INDEXA NEWSLETTER ---> The Summer 2023 issue (#139) of the International DX
Association's Newsletter is now available for download on the INDEXA website
(https://indexa.org/newsletters.html). Highlights include "3Y0J Bouvet DXpe-
dition Report" by Otis, NP4G; "A Message from our President Bob Schenck,
N2OO"; "Celebrating 40 Years of Magic: The INDEXA Worldwide QSO Party" by
Ralph Fedor, K0IR (see below).

INDEXA WORLDWIDE QSO PARTY ---> Grown from a few people loaning equipment to
DX travelers to an organization that has sponsored hundreds of DXpeditions,
the International DX Association will turn 40 years old in September. To
commemorate this anniversary, INDEXA is sponsoring a worldwide on the air
celebration, the INDEXA QSO Party. The event will occur on 2-10 September on
160, 80, 40, 20, 15 and 10 metres SSB, CW, and RTTY. This event is open to
all radio amateurs, INDEXA members and non-members alike. There will be QSO
points, multipliers, plaques and awards, and published results. See
https://indexaqsoparty.com/ for detailed information.

QSL GALLERY ---> The large collection of QSL cards on Les Nouvelles DX's
website has been updated. Seventeen different galleries include 21,423 cards
for the ten Most Wanted DXCC Entities (2013-22), the 62 deleted DXCC
Entities, obsolete prefixes, stations from Maghreb from 1945 to 1962,
Allied Forces stations in Germany (1945-80), special stations commemorating
ITU and IARU, stations using the United Nations prefix (4U), Antarctic bases
and TAAF (Terres Australes et Antarctiques Francaises), amateur radio
"globetrotters", the various French DXCC island Entities in the Pacific
Ocean, the Indian Ocean and the Americas (1945-1969), pre-1945 countries,
French Departments and CONUS, plus a gallery for cards not accepted by DXCC.
Your participation is welcome: http://www.lesnouvellesdx.fr/galerieqsl.php.
[TNX F6AJA].

SOUTH SUDAN ---> The YASME Foundation reports that last week two members of
the National Communications Authority (NCA) of South Sudan visited the ET3AA
club station in Addis Ababa to learn more about amateur radio and to gather
information from members of the Ethiopian Amateur Radio Association (EARA).
There is interest in establishing a club like ET3AA in South Sudan and
creating a pathway for local citizens to gain access to amateur radio. It is
hoped this visit will help to further that effort. Travel for NCA was
sponsored by the Yasme Foundation.

ZS8C: PIRATE ---> The SARL Secretary has been informed of a pirate station
operating on 17 metres using FT8 and using the call sign ZS8C. Carson McAfee
ZS8C was active from Marion Island in 2013 and 2014, and the licence was
cancelled in 2015. It has been confirmed that there are no radio amateurs on
Marion Island, Gough Island and at SANAE Base. [TNX ZS4BS]

+ SILENT KEY + Georgij A. Chliyanc, UY5XE passed away a few days ago. Born
in 1948 and licenced since 1966, in 1986 he volunteered his services as a
Chernobyl liquidator. He was an active DXer and contester, and a historian
who authored a large number of books and articles about amateur radio. An
early supporter of the IOTA programme, he participated in many DXpeditions,
notably 4K3MI (1990, EU-119), 4K4I (1991, AS-086), 4K4N (1993, AS-104) and
EM5UIA (2000, EU-179, EU-180, EU-182).
