at https://www.425dxn.org/. [TNX IZ3EBA]

3Y0J ---> Last week a four-men reconnaissance party spent four days on the
island under challenging conditions. After that, the team decided to re-
assess their plans and scale back operations.
* On 5 February eight operators plus Peter were able to go onshore ("the
landings were accomplished by holding onto a line attached to a buoy and
floating 150 meters to the beach in our survival suits", LA7GIA says) with
basic radio equipment and essential supplies to survive on the island for
a few days.
* Activity started on 6 February just after 16 UTC.
* They operate CW, SSB and FT8 (Fox & Hound, they say) with three K3 radios
running 100 watts to wire/vertical antennas: one station at night and two
stations during the day, unless weather conditions dictate otherwise.
* They have antenna capabilities on 12, 15, 17, 20 and 30 metres.
* "If you have made a QSO with 3Y0J , and you are sure of it, the team has
requested that you not try to fill other band/mode slots", KE1B (West
Coast Pilot) says. In particular, "if you have contacted them on CW or
SSB, do not work them on FT8". FT8 operation began on 8 February, and it
may be the the only chance for modest stations to get their All Time New
One.
* As of 7 February, the team hoped to remain QRV for "another 7 to 10 days".
* As of 8 February, the camp had 3-4 days of food, water and fuel left. The
team expects to restock and hopefully get the log to the boat during this
coming weekend.
It should be noted that all plans might change for the worse depending on
weather and sea conditions.

QSL via M0OXO'OQRS (preferred), or direct only to Charles Wilmott, 60 Church
Hill, Royston, Barnsley, S71 4NG, United Kingdom. The QSL Policy is detailed
at https://www.m0oxo.com/3y0j-bouvet-2023/3y0j-bouvet-qsl-policy/.

FT8WW ---> The TAAF administration has granted Thierry, F6CUK the permit
extension to resume activity on the HF bands, under the conditions set by
the French Polar Institute Paul-Emile Victor [425DXN 1657]. FT8WW has been
QRV again as of 10 February. He is no longer permitted to operate below 14
MHz, so for the time being he will operate CW and FT8 on 20 and 15 metres,
with "as soon as possible tests for SSB". QSL via Club Log's OQRS.

LIGHTHOUSE WEEKEND ---> The 15th American Lighthouses Weekend will be held
on 17-19 February. Details, including a listing of participating stations,
can be found on https://www.grupodxbb.com.ar/.

TURKEY-SYRIA EARTHQUAKE ---> A 7.8 magnitude earthquake, followed by after-
shocks and another 7.5 magnitude event, struck Turkey and Syria on 6 Febru-
ary, leading to a large loss of life and many casualties. The emergency
communications group of TRAC is involved in the response activities, primar-
ily expected to be on VHF/UHF as well as on 3777, 7092 and 28540 kHz. Please
give way to any emergency traffic around those frequencies. Also in use for
emergency traffic might be 1855, 18155, 14270, 21270 and 24955 kHz.
